PIFIS College

About PIFIS College:

PIFIS College, Preparatory Institution for International Students, was established in 1991. It has been organizing preparatory programs for Corvinus University of Budapest continuously. It started collaborating with BBS in 2015, and by 2021, it expanded to include three new partner universities: METU, ELTE, and EDUTUS.

Since its inception, over a thousand international students have participated in PIFIS programs. These courses are conducted by proficient English teachers and mathematics professors from their partner universities.

PIFIS aims to assist international students in acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to secure admission to a Hungarian university and successfully complete their academic programs.

After successfully finishing the Preparatory Program, students may gain admission to a variety of bachelor and master programs at EDUTUS University, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest Metropolitan University (METU), Budapest Business School (BBS), and Corvinus University of Budapest.

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”

General Colin Powell, former US Secretary of State

Programs at PIFIS:

The preparatory programs organized by PIFIS are:

  • BA preparatory program – Corvinus/ELTE
  • BA preparatory program – BBS/METU/Edutus
  • Pre-Master program

Change of Program:

The programs are separate programs even though all of them are organized by PIFIS, therefore the requirements and the outcomes differ as well. Students are accepted to one of the programs based on their application and online test results.

Transferring from one program to another is only possible between the BA preparatory programs and only in special cases, based on the students’ study results, and their teachers’ recommendation, only if the student meets the following requirements:

Transfer from the BBS/METU/Edutus – BA preparatory program to the Corvinus/ELTE – BA preparatory program is only possible in case a student’s results during the first period are as follows:

  • A minimum average of 85% on English homework assignments
  • AND a minimum average of 85% on the weekly English test results
  • AND has a total absent rate lower than 10%

Transfer from the Corvinus and ELTE – BA preparatory program to the BBS/METU/Edutus – BA preparatory program is mandatory if a student’s results during the first period are as follows:

  • Mathematics results (in a Corvinus/ELTE group)
  • An average lower than 50% on homework assignments
  • OR an average lower than 50% on the weekly tests

In case a student meets the requirements and would like to transfer between programs, the student must issue a request to the director of PIFIS using the proper form (available in the program coordinator’s office). Each request is examined and decided upon individually.

Similarly, midterm exams may lead to rearrangements based on results, and students can request group transfers by submitting the appropriate form to the PIFIS director. Each request is assessed individually, with decisions made accordingly.
