About Girne American University (GAU):
Girne American University (GAU) is a private university located in Kyrenia (Girne), a city in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). It was established in 1985 and has since grown to become one of the prominent institutions of higher education in the region.
The university is recognized by the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK) and accredited by various international accreditation bodies. GAU has over 18000 students from 135 countries.

Admission Requirements:
Required Documents:
- The original documents of all your academic documents of which copies you previously submitted to the University to support your application to study. Your academic documents and the English translations (if applicable) must be attested by the Ministry of Education in your country of residence, or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Turkish Embassy.
- Your valid original IELTS or TOEFL certificate. Otherwise you will be given a date for the on campus English proficiency exam.
- 12 current passport size photographs
- Your completed Dormitory registration form (if applicable)

English Language Proficiency Requirements:
To receive exemption from the English Placement examination you must provide the university with your original valid (2 years since the date of the exam) IELTS or TOEFL certificate. Photocopies are no accepted. Grades accepted by the University for IELTS and TOEFL qualifications are:

Scholarships at GAU:
High Honor Scholarships:
Students who achieve a CGPA of 3.50 or above after their first academic year of study at GAU can apply for this scholarship.
Please note that this scholarship is not available for Master and PhD programs.
Work Team Scholarship:
Students can qualify for “work equivalent” scholarships by working at GAU’s relevant units and facilities.
Sport Scholarships:
Students who are accepted by GAU’s School of Sports to represent the university will be eligible for 100% Sports Tuition Fee Scholarship.
